Meet the Coaches
Ken Miller - Head Coach/Owner
- CrossFit Level 2 Certified
- Iron Athlete Weightlifting Certified
Ken started what is now known as CrossFit Tempe in 2013. He turned his weight around from close to 550 lbs, to 275 lbs. He was not on the “The Biggest Loser” or “Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition” he did it all with CrossFit and Paleo. His success fueled him to get his Level 1 Cert and pay it forward by opening his own CrossFit affiliate. Ken is the heart of our box. His desire is to have everyone, no mater their fitness level (even no fitness level), shape or age achieve their fitness goals. It can be done, he proves it every day!

My name is Armando Cruz but everyone at our box knows me as Cruz. I have been doing CrossFit for over 4 years now. I first met Ken at our first CrossFit box back in Mesa, AZ. Ken helped me get my CrossFit L1 back in 2013 and I have been coaching for Ken since then. I got my CrossFit L2 in September 2016 and Pre-and-Postnatal Strength and Condition certification in December 2016.
I am a full-time student currently attending ASU for my Bachelors in Exercise Science. I am currently Ken’s Head Coach/Manager and have been since early 2016. My main goal is to be an awesome coach before an athlete, seeing our community continue to grow and exceed in their fitness journeys are my favorite type of PRs. I am excited to see what the future holds for myself and CrossFit Tempe. I believe we have one of the best CrossFit communities in the Valley. Fitness for All.

I am from a small town in rural Connecticut. I have 3 siblings and most of us are in the health and fitness/medical field. I got my degrees from Sacred Heart University in Exercise Science and Biology while competing for the NCAA D1 wrestling team. After graduating, I began managing Columbia CrossFit while competing as a CrossFit athlete. After 2.5 years of competing and coaching I decided to pursue a medical degree as Southwest College of Natural Medicine in Tempe, AZ, Class of 2020. I have been to 4 CrossFit Regionals as an individual and completed my L3 coaching certificate in 2016. I love learning new things and traveling to new places. I am thankful to be a part of the CrossFit community.

I received my CrossFit L1 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and then my CrossFit L2 in Bogota, Colombia 2016.
The best part of my job is being able to be a part of somebody's transformation...when they come into the gym and say "I'm never going to be able to do that" and then a couple of months later, I see them doing that exact thing! It's very rewarding and I love being a part of such amazing transformations.

A little bit about me: I'm from Southern California, but have lived in almost every corner of the country over the past 6 years! Los Angeles and Orange County will always be home, but I've ventured as far as east as Cocoa Beach, FL and as far north as Seattle, WA.
I found CrossFit in 2013 while living in Florida, during the "Rich Froning" era of The CrossFit Games. Everything about the program and lifestyle just made so much sense to me! I got my Level 1 Certification in 2015 and started coaching classes immediately. I've coached CrossFit in 3 different states and 4 different affiliates, and now at CrossFit Tempe!
My personal vision in life is to continue seeking out ways to empower other people to realize their own potential. I coach CrossFit because it is one of those ways I have loved doing this on a daily basis. The sport is humbling to us all and does not discriminate. Regardless of your athletic background, your age, your ethnicity, your body type, your personal story - CrossFit has a way of getting real with us, teaching us how to handle adversity, and discovering new skills we never thought we could learn.

Natalie started Crossfit in 2014 because she was tired of programming her own workouts. Although she had been working out as an active duty army officer since 2005, joining Crossfit was the start of her real education in fitness. Still currently serving on active duty as an Army engineer officer, Natalie was the 6th woman to graduate US Army Ranger School and the first woman in the Army to be “double tabbed” by also graduating the Army’s Engineer Combat Leadership School: Sapper School. She attributes her success during the physical tests of Ranger School and Sapper School to the fitness and education she received through the Crossfit community. Natalie is Crossfit Level 1 certified and currently stationed in Tempe to complete her graduate degree at Arizona State University before moving to West Point, NY to teach at the United States Military Academy.
Senior Exercise and Wellness Major at Arizona State University. From Palm Springs California and have been apart of the CrossFit Tempe family for a year and a half. Started doing CrossFit when I was a junior in high school and have been addicted ever since. I have a passion for health and fitness as well as people and absolutely love being apart of CFT.

Eric Rendon - Leader of the CrossFit Tempe Barbell Club
I’m Eric Rendon, I’m originally from Los Angeles and have been in Arizona since 2006 and graduated from Arizona State University in 2014. I became involved with CrossFit in early 2013 and I have loved it ever since. My interest in Olympic weightlifting increased during my time at ASU. During my final year of school I helped with the start up of the ASU Barbell Club. I enjoy spending time in the gym and spending time with my fiancé and our 2 kiddos. My favorite CrossFit moments are when I get to compete with friends. Competing with friends has been some of the best times I’ve had in CrossFit.
